Makeup Advice needed for a Formal!?

Hi, I'm Asian with long wavy black hair, I plan to let it down.

I don't have that crease/double eye lid in my eye but I do have I guess, like, a fold that sort of looks like a double eye lid. Not quite one though.

My dress is this shimmery gold and black..

Okay, my question is what do you recommend for my face? I'm completely and utterly clueless.

How fun, a formal!

Well, your dress sounds amazing.

As for makeup, I would definitely wear basic makeup, taken up a notch to enhance your coloring.

I don't know what kind of skin you have - but if need coverage, wear some foundation (Prescriptives Virtual Skin has a couple of great shades for Asian skin... if you are fair skinned, wear natural bisque, if you are more golden/tanned, wear real champagne). Set with a loose translucent powder.

I would avoid 'gold toned' blushers, because there are different shades of gold and I don't know what your dress is.... if is a deep gold with the black or more of a yellower gold with the black. In any case, you have yellow-tones in your skin, so I would instead use a blusher and lip color that don't make you look like one big golden statuette.

Make sense?

Try a blusher in a cool tone vs. a warm tone - like a plum based pink and wear it on the apples of your cheeks. Your lips should have a really nice lipstick - a wine color would look really nice. If it is too heavy for you, thin it out with a bit of gloss to look like a sheer wine-colored stain.

Here's a trick (to keep your lips from wearing off while you drink a beverage, quickly lick the area of the glass before you apply your lips to sip... and it won't come off on the glass!!!

As for your eyes. keep your eye makeup simple. Wear plenty of black mascara - I would avoid eyeliner. Instead, use a beige matte shadow as a base and take a brown shadow and blend it well where the crease would be - it'll give your Asian almond shaped eyes definition, bring them out and enhance them, giving an illusion of depth with more of a crease.

That's it. You you are set.

For your nails... go French manicure or try a nice plum color (similar to your blusher color). Don't try to use glittery shimmery nail color - it'll be too much with the dress.

Hope this helps.

Have fun and enjoy your formal! :)

Makeup Advice needed for a Formal!?

Ok, well to start it off. My mom is a makeup artist down in Miami, Flordia. If you live near there, you can contact her. but if you dont, then i'll just have to give u the advice as best as i can.

the best kind of makeup for your asian features would be, a meduim toned red lipstick, not too bright since im guessing your skin is kinda white uh?

Then go with a golden fade highlighted eyeshadow, its a eyeshadow that makes your eyes sparkly. then go with a tinted moisturizer to make yoru skin glow.

then go with a rosy light but subtle pink blush.

then go with thick eyelashes, buy mascara, and no eyeliner. The eyeliner makes it a bit too much black and wouldnt go together

but cleanse, tone, and moisturize before you put on any makeup.

smooth out your skin with a nice foundation, then go over it with a nice shimmer shine to make u look flawless. put on some heavy black mascara so ur eyelashes look plump and volumnous. put some dark (black) eye shadow in the crease of your eyes and smooth out with a gold shimmer, so it blends together. put on some black eyeliner. i think u will look hot! stick to a shiny neutral lip!

go with brown and pink eyshadows and pink lipstick. Dont put alot of makeup on cause Asians have very prety skin adn dont need to much make up on them
